Antique Austrian saber for artillery officer made in the late 19th century, coming from Austria and in fine condition. The weapons blade has been cut, probably to make it easier to use and more functional. Though, the blade remains in good condition: the steel is well preserved and shows no remarkable signs of wear. Close to the cross-guard we can see an F engraved in one of the sides, while in the other we find the inscription St. EGIDY. The hilt boasts a simple design; it is made of steel too, except for the solid-wooden grip. The grip preserves the original leather wrapping and twisted wire, in quite good condition though showing clear signs of the trace of time and use. The rest of the hilt is made of a single steel plate which has been curved and molded to shape the D-guard, the cross-guard and the grips reinforcement. This Austrian saber for artillery officer made in the late 19th century is an authentic, antique and powerfully-looking weapon. A great piece to become part of a good collection. Dimensions: Blade Length: 25.2 in / 64 cm. Total Length: 30.31 in / 77 cm.
