Antique French Sword for Infantry Officer Model 1882. France

Striking sword for infantry officer model 1882, forged in France and in great condition. The sword comes with an ancient scabbard which probably belonged to another weapon, but fits perfectly with the one that we can see in the images. The steel blade bears no decoration and is well preserved; it boasts a slight antique patina which provides the sword with character and personality. The hilt combines steel and dark solid wood, creating a good-looking and efficient contrast. The solid-wooden grip bears a series or hand-carved parallel grooves and remains in good condition. The D-guard is made of gold-finished steel and is divided in four stylized branches. As for the scabbard, it is made of light-brown leather and mounts steel locket and tip. Just like the sword, it remains in excellent condition though being such an ancient item. This beautiful sword for infantry officer model 1882 is an attractive and singular piece which will shine as a decorative item, but also as a historic weapon.
