Impressive sword for USA navy officer, the model currently used by the USA army. The sword was made in Spain to be exported to the United States and remains in strikingly good condition. This model is currently in use, but it was adopted by the North American forces many years ago. The steel blade bears a fine acid-etched decoration, perfectly preserved. Near the hilt, the decoration includes an inscription with the words OLARRA SPAIN STAINLESS. It also contains military and heraldic symbols from the USA. This hilt is a very remarkable part. It is composed of a white paste grip with the original twisted wire, and embossed-brass D-guard and cross-guard. The cross-guard shows the embossed USA inscription as part of its fine openwork floral decoration. It is trimmed by a quillon shaped as a snakes head. The pommel is flat and bears an engraved motif depicting the North American eagle surrounded by stars. As for the scabbard, it is a magnificent piece covered in black leather and with brass locket, tip and ring. The locket and the ring are adorned with embossed knots, while the tip bears a chappe shaped like a snake or a reptile. The astonishing beauty of this sword for USA navy officer turns it into a very decorative and original piece. Dimensions: Blade Length: 35.43 in / 75,5 cm. Total Length: 29.72 in / 90 cm.
