Antique Spanish saber sword for artillery officer mod. 1842, made in Spain in the 19th century and in fine condition. The saber mounts steel blade; the metal surface does show the signs of the trace of time and use, witness of the weapons authenticity and past. The brass hilt is a gorgeous part, with a fluid, elegant and simple design which provides the saber with a remarkable beauty. The D-guard is divided in three curved branches that end at the cross-guard; this part bears an engraved mark with the word IBARZABAL, a famous Spanish sword maker. The top of the grip is covered by a brass sleeve with a fine vegetal-inspired hand-engraved motif. The grip is made of leather-covered solid wood; the original leather and the twisted wire have been replaced.
