Antique British sword bayonet model 1856 for Enfield gun, made in UK circa 1860. This is an original weapon, so beautiful and in amazing condition. It mounts a yataghan-style blade, with the wavy shape typical of the Turkish blade it is named after. The blade bears a rare manufacturers mark: A & A.S., corresponding to August and Albert Schnitzler of Solingen, Germany. This detail suggests that the bayonet-sword could have been made in this country to be exported to the United Kingdom, something common in those days. The blade looks shiny and even, with no traces of rust or wear. The hilt is equally well preserved, with the original black wooden grip in fine condition and a steel cross-guard with an engraved serial number. This piece comes with its original scabbard, made of black leather and with steel locket and chappe. This antique British bayonet-sword model 1856 for Enfield gun is an exclusive piece, for its authenticity and undeniable beauty. Dimensions: Blade Length: 22.64 in / 57.5 cm.
