Antique Swiss Bayonet Model 1889 for Schmidt-Rubin. Switzerland, Circa 1895

Superb antique Swiss bayonet model 1889 for Schmidt-Rubin rifle, made in Switzerland circa 1895 and in exceptional condition. The bayonet is designed to be mounted in a Schmidt-Rubin rifle, mod. 1898 and 1911. Both the steel blade and the hilt are in really good condition: the metal shows off a polished, lean and shiny surface with no traces of rust or wear at all. Just under the cross-guard we can see the manufacturers name, WAFFENFABRIK NEUHAUSEN, clearly engraved in capital letters. The hilt mounts a straight steel cross-guard, with a hole at one quillon to insert the rifles barrel and the engraved serial number. The grip is covered by two dark wooden grip plates, attached with steel rivets and trimmed by a steel pommel. The steel scabbard shows an old-time black finish; though is slightly worn, it is overall well preserved and keeps the original leather strap.
