Antique Custom-Made Prussian Sword M. 1880 for Artillery Officer. Germany

Antique custom-made Prussian sword M. 1880 for artillery officer, made in Germany and with a spectacular design. The blade and the hilt are custom hand-engraved and make up a unique and special piece. On one of the blades sides, we can see the engraved name of the officer who ordered the sword: Karl Börnicke, Strassburg, I. Elsass, 1904 (Strasbourg, Alsace, 1904). The inscription is engraved inside parchments on a vegetal background. On the other side we can see the Regiment (Nº 10) in a paved inscription on a golden background. The hilt is beautiful the pommel is shaped as a lions head with two red stones as eyes. The loop guard bears an engraved inscription reading Gott Mit Uns (God With Us). The hilt is amazingly preserved, with the grip covered by the original leather and twine. At the blades edge we can see a small flaw, a dent which, from the appearance, it was most likely caused in combat by shrapnel or a bullet.
