Antique Prussian imperial saber sword for artillery officer, original from the region of Saxony, Germany and forged in 1873. This saber is a unique piece: on the front of the hilt we can clearly see the mark left by a projectile or shrapnel residue, as well as the trajectory followed by it along the hilt. Logically, the saber was in combat and lived the battle in the front line, which makes this piece an item of historical interest. On the other hand, it is a very attractive weapon and in good condition: the only bullet mark is the one mentioned above, while the rest of the saber is in excellent condition. The hilt includes wooden grip with original sandpaper and twine, lion's head shaped rear bolster and cross with scrolled sparrowhawk. The handguard is elegantly decorated in relief. On the cross we can see the hand engraved inscription 10. A. F. 2 B. 3 engraved by hand, while on the edge of the blade (next to the hilt) appears a crowned W, emblem of Kaiser Wilhelm I, with the number 73 (1873). The saber is presented with its original black metal scabbard, in very good condition and with a lovely antique patina. This beautiful Saxon Prussian Imperial Prussian artillery officer's saber marked by a bullet is ideal to be part of a collection of authentic and storied military antiques. Dimensions: Blade Length: 40.15 in / 82 cm. Total Length: 32.28 in / 104 cm.
