Regulatory machete of Spanish infantry officers in Cuba, made circa 1890 and in good condition. This is a truly original piece from the time, the machete that the regulations disposed to be used by Spanish officers overseas. The blade is marked MACHETE REGLAMENTARIO (Regulatory Machete) Nº 877 and shows the engraved image of two symmetrical confronting lions. On the other side of the blade we can see the manufacturers mark, the inscription HONSBERG & SPIER. The grip is covered by the original leather, attached with two screws. The pommel is shaped as a bird of preys head, with the beak curved in a curious shape. The scabbard is made of reddish-brown leather, preserves the original metal chape and is decorated with embossed parchment-shaped bands. This antique regulatory machete for Spanish infantry officers in Cuba is a powerful and gorgeous weapon, entirely original. Dimensions: Blade Length: 28.34 in / 76 cm.
