Curious antique leather riding whip, very decorative, which was made circa 1900. This is an Arabic whip, very probably from Morocco. One of the most appealing features of this piece is that it has a dagger hidden into the grip. This weapon appears when we remove the grip from the cylinder decorated with inlays. The riding whip was probably designed to ride camels, something which would explain its unusual length. The piece is made of black intertwined leather strips with metal and wood parts. It is in good condition, showing only slights signs of wear due to its old age and use. The central cylinder, which houses the dagger inside, is beautifully decorated with colorful inlays in an Arabic style, very well preserved. The decoration is abstract and seems to be inspired in floral motives. It is made of small rectangular and square pieces in black, red, white and ochre colors. This detail provides the piece with a singular aesthetic attractive, typical of Arab peoples love of beauty. This cylinders delicacy makes a strong contrast with the austere design in black leather of the rest of the riding whip. If we remove the dagger, we will see that it is hexagonal in cross-section and has a long pointed end. The dagger boasts a rudimentary engraving with simple lineal motives and is in very good condition. The weapon is connected to the grip by a series of metal rings which house a wooden piece which is covered by black leather in the grip. This is undoubtedly a curious article, very antique and with a fascinating history behind. Any lover of exotic antiques will surely feel proud of owning this amazing antique riding whip. Measurements: 890 mm length.
