Spanish hunting knife made in the 19th century on two different kinds of metal. This is a very antique piece that shows the signs of the trace of time, but is nevertheless complete and keeps the charm and attractive of antique weapons from the 1800s. This century is in all fairness called the Golden Age of knifes, as in those times they were very popular weapons and the vast majority of Spanish men carried one. They eventually became current pocket knives. In those years the metal treatments evolved greatly and so high quality weapons were made. This particular knife is made of steel, with golden brass hilt and engraved grip. The grip is decorated with a motive of slim parallel lines. The cross-guard is somewhat remarkable: unlike the rest of the knife that boasts a very simple design, it is softly wavy and molded in the shape of a S. It is a very elegant detail. The grip is slightly wider in the middle, with a design that reminds us of two truncated cones with their bases stack together. The contrast between the two kinds of metal, and between the blades simplicity and the hilts delicacy, turn this weapon into a very special piece. The blade is made of steel and flat in shape, with double edge and quite wide. The maker obviously gave more importance to the function and less to the design, and the result was a practical and balanced knife. The steel blade still preserves remains of a nice engraved net decoration, especially remarkable in the part where the blade joins the hilt. The metal is worn in some places but this is surely part of the knifes life and history, and provides it with much more interest than any new and impeccable weapon. This hunting knife is a great antique that any lover of hunting or ancient weapons will feel proud to own.Measurements: Length: 460 mm.
