Fine vintage typewriter more than one hundred years old, made in Germany in 1905. This is a Stoewer Record, a very elegant model that became very popular in the early 1900s. This particular machine boasts a solid and sturdy design, and one of its most attractive features is its wonderful condition. The original black enamel is regular and shiny, and the beautiful golden decoration that matches the printed name of the model and the medals won in different international events is almost impeccable. The typewriter is attached to a wooden plank that acts as a base and can be adjusted to the protecting cover, also made of wood.Stoewer typewriters started being manufactured in Germany in 1903. They were produced by theNähmascinenfabrik Bernahard Stoewer A.G., a factory founded by Bernhard Stoewer in 1858 to make sewing machines and cycles. The model became highly popular and hundreds of thousands units were made. One of the unique features typical of Stoewer typewriters is that they do not have a back-space key but a metallic lever located by the keyboard, at the top right corner. Stoewer brand disappeared in 1933.This nice typewriter has a solid and high frame, enlightened by the typical side and rear openings. The name STOEWER is printed in big golden lettering just over the carriage, and crowning the keyboard we can see the words STOEWER RECORD. This second inscription is accompanied by eight medals, disposed in two groups of four medals on either side. The golden and colored decoration makes a striking contrast with the black enamel. On the other hand, the veneered wooden cover has also the typewriters name printed on the front side. The machine works fine and can be used to type documents in a perfectly clear letter. This lovely Stoewer Record is a classical model in the field of 20th century typewriters. It will be the perfect piece to decorate the most stylish office or an elegant room.
