Great classic typewriter made in Germany circa 1930 and in excellent condition and working order. This is a Continental Standard, a model that became highly popular in Europe during the first decades of the 20th century. The machine has cast-iron body with side and rear openings and stands on four rubber legs. The iron preserves its original black-enameled finish and all the silvery metal mobile parts are original too. At the front and over the carriage we can see the printed models name in big golden lettering: CONTINENTAL. This typewriter is a design by the German company Wanderer Fahrradwerke, a firm founded in 1894 to manufacture milling machines and motorcycles. In 1904 they launched their first typewriter. The Continental Standard was surely their most famous model: a frontstrike typewriter that lets the user open the front (just like a drawer) in order to clean the gears easily. Continental typewriters were produced in three different versions: Standard, Silenta and Klein-Continental. At the front of the machine that we can see in these images lay the name and the logo of the company (a W) printed in golden lettering. This nice typewriters keyboard is composed of circular pieces, with black and red background and white symbols. It is a German keyboard and remains in very good condition, providing also an impeccable working order. On the other hand, the machines solid and elegant design turns it into a singularly decorative piece, perfect to decorate a classy study or room. With its attractive look and good working order, this original Continental Standard will delight any lover of vintage typewriters.
