This beautiful vintage piece is an Adler Nº 7 typewriter, a wonderful article made in Germany in the 1930s. The excellent condition this machine boasts is especially remarkable: the black-enameled finish is as shiny and live as the first day of use. This typewriters general condition is quite good and it works perfectly too. The piece comes in its original case made of wood covered by oak veneer.Adler typewriters were produced and commercialized by the la Adlerwerke A.G., Frankfurt am Main (Germany). The company was founded in 1896 by Heinrich Kleyer, a bicycle manufacturer, to sell Canadian Wellington Parker typewriters in Europe. In the beginning the machines were called Empire but the company dropped this name in 1899 in favor of Adler. The first model launched was Nº 7, the one we can see in these photographs; over the keyboard we can see the golden logo of the company with includes a bicycle wheel (a tribute for the manufacturers beginning). This particular typewriter was made for the Dutch market, something that explains the inscription in golden gothic lettering we can see under the logo: L. Fles & Co. Amsterdam Rotterdam den Maag Arnhem Zwolle. At the back of the typewriter we can see the serial number 299987 engraved in the metal. As stated before, the machine is protected by its original case, made of solid pine wood covered by thin oak veneer. The case keeps the original lock and key. This typewriters nice design turns it into an object of desire for any lover of the most special office antiques.
