Striking vintage typewriter made in Germany in the 1930s. It is an Ideal C typewriter, a famous model that became highly popular in the first half of the century. It boasts a smart and harmonious design: the machine has survived to our days in excellent condition. It also works perfectly and can be used to type documents with excellent results. The typewriters frame is made of black-lacquered cast iron, with openings at the back and the sides that let us see the inner mechanism. The Ideal typewriters were produced and commercialized by Siedel & Neumann, a company located in Dresden, Germany. In the beginning the firm manufactured sewing machines and bicycles, but in 1900 they bought the patent rights of the typewriter invented by E.E. Barney in 1897 and started producing it under the brand name Ideal. That was the start of one of the most famous and prestigious typewriter series, a model that had different versions: from Ideal A to Ideal D, and also Mirsa Ideal, Ideal 10 The company survived both World Wars and after the second found itself in the GDR. They ceased producing typewriters in the 1960s.The typewriter we can see in these images is quite decorative and boasts its deep shiny black-lacquered finish in contrast with the golden inscriptions that adorn it. Over the chariot we can see the market name, Ideal Naumann, and over the keyboard there are two medals: one contains the companys monogram, SN, and the other bears the distributors name (KÖRTE LORRACH). The machine has German keyboard, composed of circular keys with nickel rings and white background. The keys are in good condition and all of them work perfectly. This Ideal C typewriter will show off its beauty in a showcase or shelf with the most attractive vintage machines.
