This fine antique typewriter is a Klein Adler (German for small Adler) made in the early 1920s. The machine boasts a surprisingly modern and functional design: it is a portable model with wavy and soft shapes and fine golden decals that stand out on the black background. The typewriter has been oiled and fine-tuned so nowadays it works perfectly. It preserves all its original component parts and is a very decorative piece, being in excellent condition too. On the lid that protects the type levers we can see the models name, KLEIN ADLER, printed in beautiful golden lettering. Over these words there is a logo depicting an open-winged eagle sitting on a bicycle wheel. Adler was a cycle factory that in the 1890s started producing a typewriter designed by US inventor Wellington Parker Kidder, under the Adler 7 market name. Later on they introduced the portable versions (Klein Adler and Klein Adler 2) and a full-sized office model, Adler 8. The company was active for many decades during the 20th century. The typewriter that we can see in these images preserves the original black lacquered finish that covers the iron body. It is in wonderful condition, looking shiny and even. The golden decal printed on the lid is complete and clearly legible, and so in the lovely logo. The keyboard is composed of circular pieces with black background and white symbols. The machine stands on the original wooden base covered by oak veneer. It is undoubtedly an evocative and charming piece. This typewriters beautiful design has been preserved for decades and is still modern and appealing. Every lover of antique typewriters will appreciate its nostalgic charm.
