This rare and antique machine is a real museum piece, a Gestetner Nº6 (The Gestetner Six) in very good condition. The article keeps all its original component parts in working order and also the metal sheet case. It comes with a used silk screen and an instruction leaflet. The duplicator is quite impressive and all its gears and pieces are well preserved. The golden printed decals are also in quite good condition. The name of David Gestetner is quite a reference in the history of reprography. Born in Hungary, Gestetner designed different devices to duplicate documents including the first rotary duplicator (Rotary Cyclostyle) that he developed in 1901. He moved to London and in 1906 founded a company that manufactured reproducing machines and accessories under the name of Gestetner Cyclograph Company. The business was very successful and remained active until the 1970s. The inventions of David Gestetner supposed the beginning of the office automation, and are the ancestors of current printers and copy machines. This particular duplicator is not only a beautiful machine but also a part of history. It mounts two drums and a paper feeder. The enameled cast-iron body bears some decals and inscriptions, from the market name (THE GESTETNER SIX) to some texts that praise the excellence of the companys designs. At the rear we can see a text with a warning that is partially erased. The metal sheet that protects the duplicator and lets the user carry it more comfortably is also in good condition, preserving the original wooden handle and the models name printed in big golden lettering. This historic machine is a rare and wonderfully preserved item that really deserves a place in the best collection. Measurements: Depth: 21.6 in/55 cm. Height: 16.1 in/41 cm.
