Classic and antique Orga Privat typewriter in very good condition and in its original case. This model dates from 1926, something that we can tell thanks to the serial number in the metal plate attached to the front edge of the base: 60499. The typewriter boasts a sturdy and solid design, full of attractiveness and simplicity, having been completely fine-tuned to guarantee a good working order. It can be used to type documents and is also a highly decorative piece. Orga typewriters were launched by Bing-Werge AG from Nurnberg, Germany, a toy factory that in 1922 entered the field of standard typewriter manufacturing. This year the company started to produce a fully competitive four bank machine featuring a removable carriage known as the ORGA. Current research shows a number of patents ascribed to Ludwig Reischl which were assigned to Bing-Werke, applicable to this machine. In 1925 the firm launched a sturdier version at an affordable price: the Orga Privat that we can see in these images. The typewriters name is printed in big golden lettering, much to the taste of the time, just over the carriage. Over the keyboard and to the left there is also a golden logo. As well as bearing the serial number in the plate attached to the base, at the back of the typewriter we can see a similar piece with the same serial engraved. Beside this piece there is a list of the patents. The keyboard is composed of circular white pieces with black letters, framed by nickel-plated rings. The typewriter keeps the original protecting case, made of black-enameled metal sheet and with the models name, logo and company printed in gold. Sturdy and classic, this imposing typewriter is a real witness of the beginning of an era, a piece that deserves a special place in any collection.
