Amazing typewriter made in the 1920s, in excellent condition and working correctly. This is a Urania Model 6 typewriter, a classic and solid design that combines beauty and functionality. The good condition this piece has survived to our days in is a remarkable feature: both the black enameled finish and the colorful decals are greatly preserved. The typewriter has been cleaned and revised to guarantee a good working order, so it is can be used to decorate but also to type documents. Urania brand corresponds to the typewriters manufactured by the Clemens Mueller AG, Dresden (Germany). The company was founded by Clemens Mueller in 1855 to make sewing machines. In 1909 they started producing typewriters under different market names: Gallia, Merkur, Concordia After World War I, the definite name Urania was adopted. Model 6, the typewriter that we can see in these photographs, was manufactured in 1927 and 1928. After World War II, the company was nationalized by the East Germany government and changed its name for Clemens Müller VEB. This model draws our attention for its sturdy design, quite classic and decorative. The cast-iron body has side and rear openings through which we can see the inner mechanism. Over the carriage there is a big inscription in golden capital letters with the brand name URANIA. Two colorful decals stand out on both sides of the keyboard and provide the typewriter with an elegant feeling. Between them there is a metal plate with the original distributors name and address. The keyboard is composed of circular pieces with white background and black symbols, all of them original and in great condition. At the left side of the typewriter we can see the serial number 101706 engraved in one of the metal pieces that are part of the mechanism. This imposing Urania typewriter is a rare and exceptional piece, perfect for the most demanding collector.
