This gorgeous typewriter is an antique model made in Germany in 1915. It is an Adler 7, a compact and light machine with a beautiful design. It has survived to our days in amazing condition, especially if we consider that it is one hundred years old. The typewriter works perfectly and is a really decorative piece. The black enamel that covers the cast-iron body and the lid is also well preserved, looking shiny and even. The fine golden decal printed on the lid is also in very good condition. In the typewriter we can see the Adler brand logo: an eagle (Adler in German) that opens its wings while sitting on a bicycle wheel (related to the companys original work). In 1908 Adlerweke acquired a license to produce and sell the Empire typewriter (the Canadian market name for the American Wellington typewriter), and also the rights to develop it under its own name. In 1900 the first real Adler was launched: the Adler 7, the model that we can see in these images. Further on, the company would develop the original design producing portable models and full sized professional typewriters. This typewriter preserves all its original component parts in perfect working order. A chromed-metal piece located at one end of the carriage bears the engraved serial number. Over the keyboard, an inscription in golden lettering tells us that this is model nº 7. At the front of the lid we can see a small golden and black metal plate with the words FRANZ BERENS BÜROBEDARF OLDENBURG: the name of the shop where this machine was originally distributed. Any lover of antique typewriters will appreciate the charisma and charm of this beautiful Adler Nº 7.
