Antique Erika 3 typewriter in excellent condition and striking working order. This is a portable model made in Germany in 1913-14 that has survived to our days in very good condition. The machine works perfectly and lets the user type document with fine results. It boasts an elegant and simple design, surprisingly modern if we consider that this piece is one hundred years old. The typewriter comes with its original protecting cover that makes it possible to carry it comfortably. At the front of the typewriter, just over the keyboard we can see the market name Erika printed in a fine golden lettering. To the right, a decal with the initials SN indicates that this machine was manufactured by Seidel & Naumann, a factory located in Dresden, Germany. The company was founded by Bruno Naumann and Emil Seidel in 1869 to manufacture sewing machines, but the business grew and soon they started producing bicycles and typewriters. As an anecdote, that the famous Ideal typewriter was also produced in this factory. The model that we can see in these photographs draws our attention for its purity of lines and nice design. It has a QWERTZ keyboard composed of white keys with black symbols, all of them reinforced by the classic nickel-plated ring. The machines body is made of black-lacquered iron, wonderfully preserved and looking shiny and even. If we turn the typewriter upside down we will find the serial number 9190 telling us that this typewriter was made in the 1910s. The protecting and carrying cover is well preserved and fits perfectly with the base, showing only a few slight signs of wear in some edges. Elegant and functional, this Erika typewriter is an original piece perfect to decorate a study or a dining room.
