This beautiful antique typewriter is an Ideal D, a real classic of the industrial design from the first half of the 20th century. The typewriter is well preserved and works perfectly it has been checked, cleaned and fine-tuned so it can be used to type documents. Solid and good looking, it is a piece with a strong decorative power bound to shine on a shelf or a sideboard. The machines body is made of cast iron with side and rear openings through which we can see the intricate mechanism that brings it to life. Over the carriage we can see the printed market name Ideal in golden lettering in an Art-Deco inspired style. At the front and to the right rests the manufacturing companys decal with the letters SN inside a hexagon and a golden circle. These letters stand for Seidel & Neumann. The Idea typewriter was created and patented in 1897 by American designers E.E. Barney and Frank Tanner. The models production was assumed by Seidel & Neumann, a factory located in Dresden, Germany that manufactured sewing machines and bicycles. This lovely typewriter has QWERTZ keyboard composed by white pieces with black symbols and nickel-plated rings. It preserves all its original component parts in great condition: the silvery-metal mobile parts show no signs of rust and move fluidly and softly. At the front left corner, under the ink selector we can see a sticker with the name and logo of the original distributor, a business located in Salzburg, Germany. Every lover of antique typewriters will find a real treasure in this Ideal D, a beautiful and reliable design.
