Rare Klein Adler typewriter cut missing a halved section and the protecting case. This machine was made in Germany in 1922-23 and was manufactured directly in this way: its design is bound to be used in promotional demonstrations and training courses. The section lets us see the inner mechanism and appreciate its operation. The model is in excellent condition and works wonderfully, having been checked and fine-tuned in order to guarantee it. It is a collectors piece, rare and attractive and with a very special charm. Adler Fahrradwerke Heinrich Kleyer AG was founded in 1880 by H. Kleyer. In the early days the factory manufactured bicycles but in 1901 they started producing cars, motorcycles and plane engines. In 1896 the company bought the patent rights for the Empire typewriter and in 1900 they launched the Adler 7. Adler typewriters became enormously popular in Europe and they kept on being produced until 1990, when Olivetty took over the company. The model that we can see in these images does not show the market name anywhere, as the protecting cover and the front panel have been removed to show the mechanism. This typewriter has QWERTZ keyboard composed of circular black-bakelite pieces with white symbols. It preserves all its original component parts in excellent working order and can be used to type document, though it is actually a decorative piece as half of the keyboard is missing. One of the sides shows the engraved serial number 256109 that lets us date the typewriter between 1922 and 1923. This extremely rare halved typewriter will be the star of any collection, standing out for its originality and curious look.
