Great antique Continental Standard typewriter in wonderful working order and impecable condition. This imposing machine is a real classic from the first half of the 20th century; the model that we can see in these images is in excellent condition and has been fine-tuned in order to guarantee an optimal working order. The typewriter can be used to type documents and at the same time is a very decorative piece. It has a black-enameled cast-iron body with side and rear openings that let us see clearly the inner mechanism. Over the carriage and at the front we can see the printed brand name CONTINENTAL in golden lettering. Over the keyboard is also printed the name of the company that produced the model: WANDERER WERKE SCHONAU- CHEMINTZ. In 1904 this company launched the first Continental typewriter, a frontstrike (visible) machine. Between the 1920s and the 1950s the company produced more than four million Continental Standard typewriters with different designs and innovations. The one that we can see in these photographs is the classic model manufactured in the 1920s and 30s. This gorgeous typewriter has QWERTZ keyboard composed of circular black pieces with white symbols. The keys have the classic nickel-plated ring and remain in great condition. All the mechanical parts are original and well preserved, and so are the golden decals that decorate the machine. Over the keyboard we can see the engraved serial number 509756; this number is also present at the top edge of the typewriters front side and can be seen when the front cap is lowered. As beautiful as classic, this Continental Standard typewriter is an icon from the early 20th century that will shine in any collection or shelf.
