Fine antique Adler 7 typewriter in really good condition and with original wooden base and cover. The typewriter was made in Germany in 1910-20 and draws our attention for its impressive condition and excellent working order. The mechanism has been overhauled and tuned so today the machine makes it possible to type document with fine results. It boasts a nice design too: its glossy black-lacquered cast-iron body is really attractive, and so are the wonderfully-preserved decals printed in golden lettering. The top decal contains the brand name ADLER and manufacturing companys address, located in Frankfurt. Over these words we can see the brand logo, an eagle sitting on a bicycle wheel (as homage to the companys original activity). The keys are round and black with ochre symbols; over them we can see a decal reading Nº 7, the typewriter model. The reels with the ink ribbon bear the engraved brand name and logo, a very special detail. One of the silvery-metal side component parts bears the engraved serial number 203096. The typewriter stands on the original wooden base that can be attached to the wooden cover. The set can be locked with the original key. The cover shows off the brand name printed in golden lettering. For its wonderful design and its antique charm, this Adler typewriter deserved to be exhibited in a great collection of old-time machines.Adler Typewriters History In 1908 Adlerweke acquired a license to produce and sell the Empire typewriter (the Canadian market name for the American Wellington typewriter), and also the rights to develop it under its own name. In 1900 the first real Adler was launched: the Adler 7Further on, the company would develop the original design producing portable models and full sized professional typewriters. Adler introduced a small portable version (the Klein Adler and the Klein Adler 2) and a full sized office machine, the Adler 8, followed by several adaptations. The Adler 15 was introduced in 1909 and built until 1923. One of the more popular Adler typewriters was called the Adler Universal and was released in the 1950s. The machine was a large, heavy duty, manual typewriter with an extra long carriage. The machine was known for being extremely precise and having a smooth key action. The machine was marketed towards families who desired an affordable, yet quality typewriter to use for work, school, and other tasks. In the following years the company adapted to electronic technology and kept on launching products until 1995, when it was forced out of business.
