Precious typewriter of the Olimpia Brand from the 1930's. The shiny black metal case is in perfect condition, although the keys have the typical wear of being an antique piece, which does not detract from its beauty. On the upper part where the carriage is located, the brand name appears in relief. This model has the particularity of having small windows on the back and sides that let you see the machinery of the piece. It is a very original detail that undoubtedly differentiates this machine from the other models. The machine has been overhauled and is in perfect working order. These devices arise from the need to help people suffering from blindness, to read and write, and it would not be until 1873 when the first typewriters capable of revolutionizing the world of work appear. At the beginning, the typewriter had a decoration similar to that of sewing machines, and the carriage was retracted by operating a pedal similar to that of the latter. From the end of the 19th century and during most of the 20th century, typewriters were indispensable tools in commercial offices, as well as for almost all professional writers. By 1920, the manual or mechanical typewriter had reached a more or less standard design. There were slight variations from one manufacturer to another, but most machines followed the same design. The company OLYMPIA Máquinas de Oficina, S.L. was founded on October 31, 1930 under the name "SOCIEDAD ESPAÑOLA DE MAQUINAS DE ESCRIBIR EUROPA" and progressively evolved to meet the technological needs of society. Beautiful machine full of nostalgia and magnetism.
