Superb and exclusive typewriter manufactured by the renowned brand Underwood in the year 1915, just in the middle of the First World War. This fact gives the added attraction of being a piece of history, which lived tumultuous times that Germany suffered in the early decades of the twentieth century. It is in quite good conditions, noting especially the beautiful piano black enamel that typically covers the typewriters of the era. Although in some parts we can see slight signs of wear, the overall appearance of the machine is great. Its aesthetic appeal, enhanced by the side and rear windows through which one can appreciate the complex set of mechanisms and gears that makes it work, comes along with the strength and robustness of the typewriter (it weighs about 20 kg). This masterpiece. whose intricate mechanism can be admired from any angle, preserves in good conditions the screws, levers and polished metal hardware. The keyboard is made up of round beige pieces with thin black letters. Each key is surrounded by a metal ring that beautifies and protects it. Many keys have signs of foxing (brown spots product of time and oxidation), which is normal considering the age of this beautiful piece. It is just one detail that in no way diminishes the attractiveness of this Underwood typewriter. Any lover of antiques and historical items will be proud to have it in his office or his collection.
