Beautiful Olivetti typewriter model Valentine made in 1969. It is a wonderfully preserved example of the emblematic Olivetti Valentine typewriter designed by Italian architect Ettore Sottsass in 1969. There is a Valentine typewriter exhibited in the MOMA of New York, which indicates the relevance of this model in the field of contemporary design. Sottsass intended to design a typewriter which not only was practical and worked properly, but also showed a beautiful red color and was portable. Its affordable price was also a plus, and with the Olivetti Valentine the Italian architect reached one of his greatest successes. This typewriter is nowadays an icon of contemporary design. This current machine is in perfect condition and working order. It comes with its original case and the operating instructions, written in a nice set of cards which show the same red color of the machine. The cards come into a red envelope, and on each one we can see black and white drawings, and short texts telling us how the machine works. The plastic case is well preserved, and keeps the two black locks with rubber bands which hold the machine in its place. The handle at the rear of the machine is used to carry it, and the overall design is as original as practical and well thought. The good condition and perfect working order of the typewriter are highly remarkable. The bright red surface looks shiny and regular, and the keyboard and levers are almost new. The metal parts are also in good shape, such as the carriage release lever, the paper fixing bar, the mobile plates which hold the paper upright As well as these features, the fame of Olivetty Valentine typewriter, its relevance as an icon of 20th century design and the great popularity that it reached in the 1970s and afterwards, turn this piece into a very attractive and decorative item. A real iconic design which will highlight any rooms decoration. Measurements: 330 mm width x 100 mm height.
