Krämer founded Schilling & Krämer to manufacture cast-iron elements in Thüringen, Germany. At the beginning the factory only made machines and tools for the weapon industry, but in 1902 they started manufacturing typewriters after purchasing the Underwood patents for Germany and Austria. The first typewriter they produced was the Regina, launched in 1904 as the first German version of the classic Underwood. This firs model was followed by different versions, among which the Regina II (1923) stands out. In 1908 the Regina typewriters started being distributed by Kelt & Meiners, a company located in Berlin. Seriously damaged by the 1929 world crisis, Schilling and Krämer finished their production in 1932.
