Wonderful antique Hammond 12 typewriter with circular keyboard, made in the USA in 1925 and in striking condition. This machine was made for the Dutch market and has been completely restored and overhauled today it provides a soft and easy operation, being a first-rate collector's item. The typewriter preserves all its original component parts and pieces together with the oak-wooden protecting case, a gorgeous piece that has been thoroughly restored too. This is a collectors exhibition piece, perfect to be shown as a decorative item but also ready to type. The typewriter stands on a solid oak wooden base that can be connected to the cover for its transportation. The keyboard shows off a curious circular disposition and is composed of black square-shaped keys with white characters. All the keys work fine and print the characters; some of the types are slightly worn and print just partially, but this is a minor detail. Moreover the types are interchangeable and can be replaced if wished. The typewriters mechanism works fine; the vertical-advance reels that push the paper sheet stop at certain point because one of them is slightly worn. When the paper sheet reaches this point, the user has to push it slightly so he or she can continue typing. This is quite an irrelevant issue, typical of antique typewriters and which does not interfere at all in this superb Hammond typewriters quality and beauty. The typewriter bears the name HAMMOND 12 printed on the white circular plate over the keyboard; we can see this name again at the front of the wooden case, in finely-preserved golden lettering. Riveted to the base there is a circular brass plate with the embossed brand name and a logo with the shape of a world map, beautiful and in great condition. The rest of the typewriters component parts are also very well preserved, and so are the wooden case and its lovely satin finish. The amazing condition and attractive design boasted by this antique Hammond 12 typewriter turn it into an exclusive piece, bound to become part of the best collection ever.
