Its design remains modern and attractive to this day, being a highly sought after piece by collectors and lovers of retro aesthetics. The machine we see in the images is presented with its original case, perfect for transporting it and keeping it in perfect condition. The Olivetti Valentine is a design by the famous Italian architect Ettore Sottsas, who created it on behalf of Olivetti. Sottsas' intention was to design a typewriter that was attractive, practical and lightweight, but also affordable. The model was successfully produced and sold millions of units worldwide, becoming a true design icon of the 1970s. Its popularity was undoubtedly helped by its magnificent ruby red color, a hallmark of the design: on the machine we see in the pictures, the red lacquer remains as attractive and bright as the first day. The machine's keyboard is black, consisting of square plastic parts with white letters and symbols. In this case the keyboard is German. On the front of the case we can see the name Valentine in raised letters, molded on the red background. The Olivetti signature is on the carriage and to the right, also in relief. The typewriter is presented with its original plastic case, also in excellent condition. This Olivetti Valentine typewriter is the ideal piece to decorate any study, office or living room with a trendy touch.History of Olivetti typewriters The famous Olivetti typewriters were born when Camillo Olivetti founded Ing. C. Olivetti & C.S.p.A. in the Italian town of Ivrea in 1908. In a space of 500 meters and with a staff of twenty workers, the factory had the capacity to produce twenty typewriters a week. The first model they launched was the M1, which was presented with full honors at the Universal Exhibition in Turin in 1911. From that moment on, the company experienced unstoppable growth and managed to diversify its offer, opening branches in different parts of the world. Over the years, in addition to typewriters, Olivetti produced calculators, photocopiers, computers, etc., as well as office furniture and equipment. In Spain the firm settled in Barcelona in 1929, under the name of Hispano Olivetti.
