Rare antique Lambert typewriter with its original case, made in France circa 1905 and in fine condition. This striking typewriter is an exclusive piece, a first-class collectors item which stands out for its beautiful old-time design. This is one of the hardest-to-find index typewriters ever made; it is complete (except for the right carriage know, which is missing) and aesthetically shows a great appearance. The metal body is covered by the original black-enameled finish, decorated with golden and blue lines. The iron base bears the embossed brand name LAMBERT, a detail present at models 1 and 2 (not at model 3). The machine is in display status but does not write. The types move easily and the inkpad is also present, but the carriage slides too much and does not allow the user to type with precision. In order to be used, the carriage should be fine-tuned. The typewriter operation is quite simple: the user must just rotate the type disk and press the keys to mark them on the paper. The machine bears two nameplates, one with the inscription MADE IN FRANCE MANUFACTURED AT DIEPPE and the other reading SYDNEY HERBERT CONSTRUCTEUR. The storing case is made of natural leather and is the original one. It shows some signs of wear which could be easily repaired by a professional. As attractive as special, this rare antique Lambert typewriter will surely stand out as part of the best collection.Lambert Typewriters History Lambert typewriters were designed and patented by Frank Lambert (1851-1937), a French inventor who migrated to the USA in the late 19th century. Lambert is also famous for having recorded the oldest sound reproducible in its own recording device. Among other inventions, the typewriters which bear his name were the most popular ones. When he finished the first definite version, Lambert sold his typewriter to the Grampohone Co. Ltd and received $20.000 for it. There were three models which were sold in USA, London and France.
