Beautiful antique Ideal typewriter model D coming from Germany and made in 1935, finely preserved and in perfect working order. The machine has a German keyboard, complete and in good condition, and can be perfectly used to type documents or as a decorative item. The body is made of black-lacquered metal and boasts a great industrial design, typical of early-20th-century typewriters. The black lacquer is in excellent condition and so is the decal printed in golden lettering over the carriage. On top of the keyboard we can see the mark of the manufacturing company with the initials SN (Seidel & Neumann), also present at the back of the typewriter. The keyboard is composed of circular pieces with beige background and black letters. Each key is reinforced by a nickel-plated ring, a common detail in old-time typewriters. The chrome-plated component parts are also in very good condition, with no traces of rust or wear and a perfect mobility. As attractive as functional, this antique Ideal typewriter model D will stand out on a stately desk or a bookcase.Ideal Typewriters History Ideal typewriters were patented in 1897 by American designers E.E. Barney and Frank Tanner. The production was assumed by Siedel & Neumann (Dresden, Germany), a sewing machine and cycle factory that launched the first version in 1900. The Ideal B was the second model and appeared in 1913. It was a standard 4-row typewriter, very similar to the famous Underwood. Seidel & Neumann also launched another typewriter, this one under the Erika name.
