Imposing antique Smith Premier Nº 10 typewriter made in USA circa 1910. This amazing typewriter is a collectors piece, an iconic model made in this occasion for the German model. It is in great condition and fine working order, and can be used to type documents and as an exceptional decorative element. The machine shows an impressive design, with a gorgeous metal body with side and rear openings which make it possible to see the inner mechanism. The body preserves the great black finish in really good condition, with printed blue and golden lines and brand decals in golden lettering. Both the lines and the decals are greatly preserved and stand out on the deep black enamel. The Chrome-plated mobile component parts are also in amazing condition and so is the keyboard, composed of black, ivory-white and red keys. The three bottom rows are ivory white and correspond to lower case letters, while the top black keys bear upper case letters. All the keys are original from the time. As a mythical and highly attractive piece, this antique Smith Premier Nº 10 typewriter is a luxury item for any collector.Smith Premier Typewriters - History Smith Premier typewriters were produced by the gun factory LC Smith & Brothers, located at Siracusa, New York (USA). They were first designed by the engineer Alexander Brown, who is said to have seen a Sholes & Glidden typewriter in 1876 and committed himself to improve the design. His bosses provided him with an equipped place to start with his work, and as a consequence in 1889 the firm launched the first Smith Premier typewriter in history. Model Nº 10, launched in 1908, was the last version of the legendary series; it had a double keyboard with upper case and lower case types. It is the only front-strike typewriter with double keyboard ever made.
