Very antique Lambert typewriter made in France circa 1900, entirely original from the time and a really rare piece. The machine is made of black metal and bears the brand name Lambert in big embossed letters. The arm which holds the wheel with the letters is adorned with a fine blue and golden decoration, very attractive and typical of early-20th-century domestic machines. This typewriter is not in working order: the carriage needs adjustment because it slips and the ring with the types is missing, but it preserves the rest of the component parts. Though, it is still an exclusive and rare article perfect to be used as exhibition or collectors piece. Attached to the metal body there is a shiny steel plate with the manufacturers name engraved in the metal surface: SYDNEY HEBERT CONSTRUCTEUR. The same plate bears a list with the different patents, the last one being the German one, dated on January 2th, 1900. This very antique Lambert typewriter is a faithful witness of early-20th-century technology, a real collectors piece full of authenticity and history.Lambert Typewriters History Lambert typewriters were designed and patented by Frank Lambert (1851-1937), a French inventor who migrated to the USA in the late 19th century. Lambert is also famous for having recorded the oldest sound reproducible in its own recording device. Among other inventions, the typewriters which bear his name were the most popular ones. When he finished the first definite version, Lambert sold his typewriter to the Gramopohone Co. Ltd and received $20.000 for it. There were three models which were sold in USA, London and France.
