This impressive wall clock is a very Antique model, with a classic and stylized design and solid wooden box with turned details. It was manufactured by the UNAG, a clockmaker company located in the German Black Forest that remained active during the second half of the 19th century. The clock has been completely restored in order to show off a striking look. The movement has also been cleaned and revised so the clock chimes the hours and the halves with fine sound and total precision. The movement bears the engraved mark of the factory: a gear with four spokes and the names initials. The Dictionary of the German Clockmaker Industry (2005, page 86) says that the acronym UNAG corresponds to Fürderer, Jaegler & Cie. Uhrenfabrik Neustadt im Schwarzwald AG. This company was founded in the 1950-60s and ended the production in 1892. In the beginning it was located in Buschweilier (Alsace), but in 1869 the factory moved to Neudstat, a city in the Black Forest (Schwarzwald). It was then when it acquired its definite name, the one which corresponds to the initials of the logo. The clocks box is made of solid walnut wood with beech turned details. The beech pieces have been dyed in the color of the noble wood so they all create a harmonious and balanced piece. At both sides of the front door, whose glass panel lets us see the clocks face and pendulum, there are turned columns that match the top balustrade and the piece located under the clock. The face is made of white-enameled brass with black Roman numbers and fine straight hands with filigree point. The movement bears the engraved serial number 3021 under the companys mark. Any lover of ancient wall clocks will find a classic, original and very antique piece in this wonderful model. Measurements: Width: 11 in/30 cm. Height: 37 in/95 cm.
