Beautiful classic wall clock of harmonious design made of solid colored wood with a nice French polish finish. This clock was manufactured in Germany between 1890 and 1900 by the Hamburg American Clock (HAC). It has been fully restored and boasts an almost impeccable look, being ready to be hung from a visible wall. The movement has also been completely cleaned and fine-tuned so the clock works perfectly, chiming the hours and the halves. The lovely white-enameled face bears black Roman numbers and a monogram with two crossed arrows. This logo corresponds to the Hamburg American Clock Company (HAC), also known as HAU (Hamburg Amerikanische Uhrenfabrik) in Germany. The company was founded in 1876 by Erhard Junghanss widows son in law, Paul Landenburger, who was then working as a business manager in the company. At first the company was called Landenburger & Lang, but in 1883 they changed its name for Hamburg Amerikanische Uhrenfabrik. The firm was quite successful for the quality and beauty of its clocks. In 1930 they eventually merged with Junghans. Under the clocks face we can see the striking golden brass pendulum bob, in amazing condition and embellished by an engraved motive depicting the sun surrounded by shapes that look like flames or leaves. At the top of the clocks box, the classic crowning piece composed of symmetrical turned parts and a classic hand-engraved mask draws our attention. Inside the box we can find the brass movement, with the crossed arrows symbol and the serial number 129/33 230 both engraved in the metal. The aristocratic look of this wall clock turns it into a singularly decorative article that will become more and more elegant with the trace of time. Measurements: Width: 12.9 in/33 cm.
