Beautiful wall clock with a classic and elegant design, made in France in the late 19th century and extremely well preserved. The box is made of solid walnut wood and has been carefully restored: the French-polish finish is in good condition and enhances the attractive color of the wood, providing it with a nice satin glow. The top of the clock, composed of tow cup-shaped crowning pieces and a balustrade, is made of walnut-finished beech wood; the side pillars are made of the same wood. The rest of the box, as stated before, is made of walnut wood and remains in excellent condition, as lovely as when it was originally made. At the top of the box we can see the clocks face, made directly on the wooden surface. It has black Roman numbers on white background, enameled on metal pieces directly embedded in the wood. The filigree hands are made of golden metal, stylized and quite beautiful. The face bears an inscription written in white ink: ROBIN Laval, probably the clockmakers name and the city where the workshop was located (a French city, capital of the Mayenne department). The clocks movement has a pendulum and chimes the hours and the halves. Under the clocks face we can see two more elements: a thermometer and a barometer. The thermometer is rectangular in shape, and the glass ampoule is filled with a red liquid. It is more decorative than operative, because it seems that always shows the maximum graduation. On the other hand, the barometer located just below is circular and big, with the printed inscription BAROMETRE ANEROIDE. It has a hand that indicates the atmospheric weather (warm, rainy, variable) and in the center we can see part of its nice golden-brass mechanism, composed of delicate pieces in working order. This elegant clock with thermometer and barometer will stand out in a room decorated with taste and personality. Measurements: Width: 15.7 in / 40 cm. Height: 32.2 in / 92 cm.
