Striking antique bulls-eye wall clock with hand-carved wooden box and marquetry details. The clock was made in France in the late 19th century (1880) and remains in great condition. The clocks movement has been fully overhauled and fine-tuned in order to guarantee a good working order. It is a Paris pendulum movement that chimes the hours and the halves, in perfect condition. The clock sounds great and works fine, being a very special, decorative and ancient piece. The clocks box is made of solid wood, decorated with hand-carved motives and with nice marquetry details. It combines black-lacquered wood with other species in light golden tones, creating quite an elegant and charming design. The original French-polish finis has also been restored so it has recovered its magnificent satin glow, which enhances the wood. The marquetry and the carvings. These carvings that frame the clock are made on dark wood and depict vegetal-inspired motives. The clocks face is directly made in the wood. The numbers are made of small metal sheets with a white enameled finish and black Roman numbers. These metal plates are embedded in a black wooden circular piece so they stand out strongly. The hands are made of brass and bear a fine filigree motive. At the back of the clock we can see the number 307 engraved in the wood surface and a small brass plate with another engraved number: 40.
