Great 19th Century Vienna Gustav Becker Wall Clock. In perfect working order.

Huge German wall clock almost 140 centimeters high made in the 19th century. This awesome clock is made entirely of wood and is in good working order. The wood needs restoration, which considerably lowers the price of this watch, which otherwise would go from the 1500-2000 euros. It has a Vienna weight movement and works perfectly. Its big size and austere beauty turn this clock into a real collectors item. The golden brass movement is complete and keeps all its parts, and is signed and numbered. The clock chimes the hours and the quarters.The box is made of solid wood, with veneered parts and elegant turned crowns and pieces. The top is covered by a dark wood veneer which needs to be restored to recover its full splendor. The clock also boasts a series of delicate brass details at the top, around the face and on both sides of the glass door which embellish it considerably. The white face with black Roman numbers is in great condition and so are the weights, the pulleys and the pendulum bob. All these pieces are made of golden brass, polished and shiny.Inside the clock, the brass movement bears two engraved stamps. The left one bears the inscription GUSTAV BECKER GB and some abbreviations which talk about its precedence; it is the manufacturers stamp. To its right there is a circular stamp with a cross inside and the words MEDAILLE DOR. Just under these marks we can see the movements serial number: 143004. Gustav Becker is considered one of the best German clockmakers of the second half of the19th He opened his workshops in Freiburg (Germany) in 1850. Becker the Medaille dOr at the 1852 Silesia Trade Exposition for design and incorporated that medal and his initials, G.B., into his trademark.
